Cleveland Indians @ Detroit Tigers

Two solo home runs from Torii Hunter in the second inning and Miguel Cabrera in the fourth inning give the Detroit Tigers a 2-1 edge against the Cleveland Indians this afternoon. 

Anibal Sanchez won player of the game honors after pitching seven and two-thirds innings, with six hits allowed, one earned run, no walks, and seven strikeouts. 

The Tigers led for the whole game, but it didn't come without a late surge from the Cleveland Indians in the eighth.

David Murphy hit a home run to lead off the eighth that just squeezed over the right field wall. 

The Tigers let Sanchez continue pitching after that put took him out after giving up a single from Asdrubal Cabrera with two outs in the eighth. 

Al Alburquerque came on to get the final out in the eighth, forcing Michael Brantley to ground out to second. 

The Indians couldn't muster up anything in the ninth against Joe Nathan, who looked sharp closing the game out to give the Tigers their 58th win of the season. 

The Tigers take a 8.5 game lead over the Indians in the AL Central. While the Indians fall to under .500 with a 47-48 record.
